So, Ramalinga Raju did it. He is a fraud, a thief, he admits it and now everyone will be out to grab his collar, especially the media guys. They have got a new story. Do I sympathise with him? Do I justify his acts? No. But I have a question to ask. Does it make a difference if one steals Rs2 and one steals 2 crores? Aren’t they the same? Well in our society they aren’t. Haven’t anyone of us stolen ever? Every year I see people making fake rent receipts in my company to save some tax. Here saved is the word used for stealing and all hands become clean.
Anyways back to the regular business. Yes, the movies :)
Watched 2 movies back to back today and they filled me with emotions.
Watched Dasvidaniya. I liked the movie. Don’t know whether it is inspired by or copied from some movie or not. Though the storyline is very similar to Bucketlist, but can’t comment as I haven’t seen Bucketlist. But even if it is, it is well made. Three scenes I loved in the movie, so if anyone gets to see the movie he/she can pay extra attention to these scenes considering them as my favourite :)
Scene1: Vinay Pathak proposing Neha Dhupia just by making gestures in dumb charades style (Neha Dhupia as expected is quite irritating in her short role)
Scene 2: When Vinay’s brother comes to know of his illness.
Scene 3: When Vinay sings a song for his mom.
Scene 1 I quite liked because of its idea, where the guy doesn’t speak and still conveys his feelings excellently.
Scene 2 I liked because it portrayed the love between two brothers beautifully.
I always find these blood relations, the love among siblings, between a father/mother and a son very tricky. I mean how much you fight with them or whatever happens, but if ur sibling is in a little trouble, it makes u lose sleep. These things just run in your veins. A similar thing happened recently in my marriage. My wife’s brother cried with tears during the vidaai ceremony. Manzu was quite surprised because she didn’t expect him to cry. For her, her brother was a tough guy with whom she had grown up engaged in regular sibling fights. But I could very well understand, being a brother myself.
Scene 3, again I liked for the same reasons. It made me remember my mom. Well that song is good too, sung by Kailash Kher.
The next movie I watched was Children of Heaven. It’s an Iranian movie. When TZP was released I read somewhere that Iranians make the best movies about children. Uma read that too, she watched this and recommended to me. Well Uma is the person whose blog lies on the bottom of the blog list on the right, but it shall be on top before I hit the Indian shores :)
Children of Heaven, the title almost translates to Taare Zameen Par.
I am revealing the plot, because it made me more eager to watch the movie. It’s about 2 children - a boy and his sister. The boy takes the sister’s shoes for mending but loses it. Now they can’t tell their dad about the lost shoes because they are from a poor family and fear getting beaten up. So, they decide to wear the only pair of sneakers they have turn by turn.
The child artists in the movie are really brilliant. Again it reminded of my childhood days. The way the boy and his sister studied sitting by side by side, we used to study by dividing the bed area between us using the pillows :)
A quiet favourite movie of mine used to be Hare Rama Hare Krishna, because I could understand the love the guy had for his sister.
I dedicate this post to my brother, my sisters and my parents. I love u.
And I love myself, the better half a little more. I love u wifey :)
